How to make Momos at Home Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.

  2. Gradually add water while kneading the mixture into a smooth, soft dough.

  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

 

2. Prepare the Filling:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, chopped onions, minced garlic, ginger, green chilies (if using), spring onions, cabbage, and carrot.

  2. Add soy sauce, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.

  3. Mix everything well until all the ingredients are evenly combined. The filling should be moist but not too wet.

 

3. Shape the Momos:

  1. Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls.

  2. Roll each ball into a thin, circular disc (about 3-4 inches in diameter).

  3. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each disc.

  4. Fold the edges of the disc over the filling and pleat them to seal the momo. You can shape them as half-moons or in a round shape with a twisted top.

 

4. Steam the Momos:

  • Grease a steamer with a little oil to prevent the momos from sticking.

  • Place the momos in the steamer, leaving some space between them.

  • Steam the momos for 10-12 minutes or until the dough becomes translucent and the filling is cooked through.

 

5. Serve:

  1. Serve the hot chicken momos with a side of spicy momo chutney or soy sauce.

  2. Enjoy your homemade momos!
